This tragic event unfolded on Sunday when the plane’s landing gear failed to deploy. Out of the total 181 passengers on the Boeing aircraft, nearly all tragically lost their lives, with only two crew members—a man and a woman—surviving the devastating crash.
Reports indicate that five of the victims were under the age of 10, with many being families returning home from vacation.
Ongoing investigations are focusing on a bird strike as a possible cause for the gear failure, and inquiries into why the pilot chose to land at high speed towards the runway’s midpoint, which led to the plane missing the landing area and crashing into the airport’s wall.
Financial Struggles Surrounding Weddings
While weddings can come with hefty price tags, there are numerous strategies to minimize costs.
Some couples opt for more economical ceremonies, while others seek assistance from family to help cover expenses. However, one father shared an experience that left him at odds with his daughter after he declined to finance her desired destination wedding.

On Reddit, the frustrated father, who hails from New York, revealed that his daughter dreams of a wedding in New Zealand. She requested that he cover the $200,000 cost, which he declined despite being financially able.
“She is currently asking for around 200k. This does not account for what guests would pay to attend,” he explained.
He further noted that this decision had led to his daughter ceasing communication with him. “It made me consider: should I spend this money and risk alienating my family to make her dream wedding happen?”
Reddit users overwhelmingly supported the father’s decision to refuse the exorbitant request, suggesting a budget limit instead. One user stated, “Set a maximum amount you are willing to pay and let her know that anything above that falls onto her and her fiancé.”
Another commenter emphasized, “If she is unable to fund her dream wedding, perhaps it’s not meant to be. Additionally, destination weddings involve significant extra costs, including flights and accommodations.”
