Demi Moore, 61, provided a heartfelt update on her ex-husband Bruce Willis, 69, during the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival on October 13. Speaking about Bruce’s battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), Moore shared insights into the journey, emphasizing the importance of acceptance.
“The disease is what the disease is. And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is,” Moore stated during the event, as reported by People. She reassured fans that Bruce is currently stable despite the progressive nature of the condition.
Frontotemporal dementia, which affects the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain, can lead to personality changes, behavioral shifts, and communication difficulties. The diagnosis, announced in February 2023, has brought the Willis family closer together. Moore, who was married to Bruce from 1987 to 2000, shares three daughters with him: Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah.
Moore highlighted the importance of meeting loved ones where they are in their journey:
“When you’re holding on to what was, I think it’s a losing game. But when you show up to meet them where they’re at, there is great beauty and sweetness,” she shared.
For families navigating dementia, Moore’s words resonate deeply, offering a compassionate perspective.
